Matt is licensed as a Hearing Aid Specialist by the State of Ohio’s Hearing and Speech Professionals Board and has been since 1997. Matt started his career of helping the hearing impaired in 1996 (as a trainee) in Zanesville, Ohio working for Beltone Hearing Center.
In 2005 Matt was promoted to Vice President of Operations for the newly formed Echo-Norvell Hearing Aid Services, Inc. in Newark Ohio. Echo-Norvell was opened in October of 2005 with the knowledge that Licking and Fairfield Counties deserved a much higher level of hearing healthcare. From the onset, our patients note that Echo-Norvell is a true hearing healthcare facility and not just a place that “sells hearing aids”. In October of 2013 Matt was promoted to President/Owner of Echo-Norvell Hearing Aid Services Inc. In March of 2022 Echo-Norvell Hearing moved from their well know office on Granville St. to a brand new/state of the art facility to better serve Licking County and the surrounding areas.
Matt currently serves as an ambassador with Listen Carefully; an educational organization that is dedicated to the hearing impaired community. Matt was also recently asked to serve on the advisory board of Otoset ear cleaning systems. In the fall of 2022 Matt was also asked to testify before Ohio Senators about the importance of licensing for Hearing Aid Specialists in Ohio. The testimony given helped preserve licensing in Ohio.
In the past Matt served as a trustee and also Vice President of the Hearing Healthcare Alliance of Ohio. In 2016 Matt was appointed by Governor Kasich to the Ohio Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters Licensing Board where he was chosen by his peers to be the Vice Chairman of the board. He was again appointed to the newly formed Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board in 2018; again by Governor Kasich and then for another term by Governor DeWine. During his time on the newly formed board, Matt served on the Investigative Review Group and Licensure Review Committee. While Chairing the Rules Committee there where several changes made to the rules governing Hearing Aid Specialists that will help to further protect the hearing impaired citizens of Ohio for many years to come. Matt still serves the Speech and Hearing Professionals Board by proctoring state practical exams to newly licensed specialists.
